ldybastet: Uruha of the GazettE in white, striking a sexy pose (GazettE - Uruha white)

This is something I like to do once in a while, comparing live versions of certain songs. I do it because I find it fascinating to see both the similarities and the differences, to see how the GazettE has developed, both in their skills and in their stage personas/performances.

A song I really love, and that they play often on their lives is Akai One Piece, from their very first single. It's a good song, and they always seem to have a lot of fun while playing it, and that is important to me as well.

So, here are two versions, one very early, from Heisei Banka (2004) and from Tokyo Dome (2010). The Heisei Banka clip goes on longer than the song, so stop it at 4.30, when the song ends, and watch the TD version directly after... :D

So long without any GazettE squee in here? That has to be rectified! :D

Therefore, I bring you a picture of Uruha in his Tokyo Dome finery! I really like that white leather together with the black. Very dramatic. Click the picture for full version of the image.

Many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] rawkstarr23 who scanned and uploaded the pictures from the Tokyo Dome photobook.

So, what do you think of this look?

Any requests for posts or images you'd like to see? Come on, don't be shy! :) I'm still working on the request I got a while ago. It's just taking a bit of research and digging to find good pics from their early days.

A little while ago, [livejournal.com profile] _lamiai_ was very kind to rip and post subtitles for the TD concert DVD in a GazettE comm on LJ, and I downloaded them, just so I could have subs on the computer too, and not just on my DVD.

However, something was very wrong with the subs for the second disc, in that they simply didn't show up. The original uploader gave advice about naming the files the same and all that usual stuff. But the subtitles still didn't show up.

When I had a closer look at the file, I realised why: the timing of each line was set to well after the actual avi file (or DVD disc) had ended! The first line was set to play at 1 hour 25-something minutes, and that is after it's all over. (The first part had some minor timing problems as well.)

So, since I am stubborn like this and wanted my subtitles, I went through the entire file and corrected this, and I also found about 25-30 lines that were missing. So I added those. There are still a few things that Ruki says that aren't translated, but they're not on the DVD either. :( I also took the liberty of correcting a few things. My Japanese is very bad, so far, but even I know that "stando" is not translated to "tribune", "Ride with Rockers!" not to "Let's go, Tokyo!", and so on... I also really couldn't let the translated phrase "Strut your stuff" stay. It made Ruki and Kai and Reita sound like they were trying to be John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever, or something. On my RCE DVD those exact words in Japanese were translated to "Show us what you've got!" so I switched them to that instead. I hope this is okay with you.

A big thank you to [personal profile] zabimitsuki for helping me test the files and point out where more corrections were needed. :)

Anyway, after all this rambling: here are the corrected subtitle files for the Tokyo Dome concert in case anyone else wants them!

TD subs Disc 2

(Change xx to tt and the links will work fine.)
